Totoro Restaurant Redesign

With this logo redesign, I already had a set theme to follow as this restaurant’s current logo is the character Totoro from the film, My Neighbor Totoro. I wanted to give their logo a bit more originality while also sticking to the restaurant’s current theming. To do this, I added the pattern of the character Totoro’s fur onto some of the lettering. The idea to turn the o’s in the name into actual sushi rolls came about midway through my design process. While creating an original, retro style font, I realized that the shaping of the o’s that I had made, resembled the shape of sushi rolls when they are inside a tightly packed to-go box. I felt that this would be a fun addition to the overall look of this redesign.
